Hi, I'm Nikki Shiva. I enjoy spiritual aspirations and searching for deeper meanings into the self, mind, nature, and world consciousness. I see in nature an intricate display of synchronicity that I aim to capture within my art. I wish to spread this synchronicity as well as the beauty of the divine hand, through my work and then share it with the world.

Hi, world! Time to tell my journal our next adventure! <3

Namaste 😀
I am excited to see my art taking on new heights. I have been added to a small group of artists in the downtown Billings,MT area 😀 We were selected to represent the local art scene by the DBA committee in Billings,Mt! We were to be given a traffic box to decal our art onto, I just happened to have been privileged with 2! I do very much appreciate this opportunity to show Montana my work and to take my resume to the next level! Now I look to have my art on as many traffic boxes I would be allowed; and then to move into the hospitality industry, from Billings, MT to Dubai! I am very excited to share this with all of you and look forward to reaching the next level in our endeavor 😀 I see you!

Fine Art

Fine Art

fine artWhen we think of fine art we the of art that is pleasing to the eye, relating to us on an emotional level or of art which has stature and value.

When you look up the definition to the word “FineArt” within the first paragraph you read “art developed primarily for its aesthetics or beauty”. Fine art can range from art, music, crafts, fashion, home decor and landscaping.

The more prominence that you give to your creation the more it is seen as fine art.

When you begin to integrate your love for beauty by creating a theme around you, you begin to show your very essence and creativity. Learning to cultivate your worlds such as your business, home, and office you create a cohesive statement about yourself.

Creating a theme that flows from one to the other conveys someone in complete balance and harmony which comes from with and is expressed by its surrounding, much like the even flow created when using Feng Shui as shown in the Spruce.

Once you recognize that your environment is a direct expression of you, a new desire is born to manifest a cohesive story.

Vibrant or pastel colors, floral designs and arrangments, cobble stones and bedding, wall coverings and patios share an insight into who you are.

When we hire a decorator or a designer we are hiring them to create this very image. We are asking them to create a cohesive representation of who we are to the world. This is why it is very important to know yourself and what you wish to convey to others.

Having more than one decorator or designer can create a confusing story, but having a single decorator or designer who has an overall view of who you are and what you want will be a dynamic expression of yourself.

Let us start from the side of the home;

We will usually have our home decor based on the color pallet of the walls in the home or the floor design of the home.

HGTV has on their website 11 steps that their Interior designers look for. Katie Leavy from Capital Design in Washington DC says “The first step being the purpose of your room; will it be used for a family comfort or for entertaining guests.”

Reader’s Digest in a blog “What Interior Designers notice as they enter your home” say’s “The first thing that I look at is the space” Founder and interior designer at Designs Mac.

We hear from The Spruce Decorating 101 Interior Design Basics by AphroChic that there is a distinct difference between interior designers and interior decorating.  The clear distinction is training and the focal point which is trying to be when looking for assistance with your design keep this in mind.

So when looking for assistance with your design keep this in mind.

fine art by Nikki ShivaWhen I am deciding the art for clients business, office or home, I will take into consideration the color pallet of my surroundings, the floor design as well what has been expressed to me ( likes and dislikes, style of the client are they contemporary, or classic, conservative or visual.

An artwork is an intimate way of expressing oneself. We tend to show our vulnerability, strengths, passions, weaknesses, and desires when we choose to project our surroundings as fine art.

What appeals to some may not appeal to others and it is for this reason that art is such a personal thing.

When you come from a spiritual point of view the cohesion of your home, business, and office decor matters.  I decided to look on Pinterest and saw that everything matters in spiritual decor every nook and cranny says something about the person!

Now when we step outside of our office, business or home we want to make sure our landscape also conveys the same message, so picking a landscape designer who listens, is detail oriented and creative is important.

When I visited Billings Landscaping website what caused me to look further into what they could offer was what they said about their designers “We strive to provide unique landscapes that accentuate your home” because it is important to me that the exterior of my home and business matches the interior as well as myself.

Taking some time to do some will help you to find a designer that will bring to light what matters most to you. In turn, you will be able to share that outwardly with your clients, your family, and your friends.

Through calculated steps and coordinated decor placement, you will be able to make a concise insight into who you are and what you represent.

Art in Billings Montana

There is a new wave of art in Billings Montana thanks to the Traffic signal box program put on by the Billings Downtown Art Committee.  The program was created to beautify the downtown area with local artist’s artwork. The members of the program will commission an artist to create an art piece to be used on the traffic signal boxes. This year I was nominated and will have my art piece shown! I am very excited and wanted to share this exciting news. The art piece is set to show on Sept 17th! I will provide more information once we get closer to the date and the unveiling! Hurrah!!

Arts where it’s at

Arts where it’s art

So is arts where it’s at? I would have to say “Yes” why?

abstract gallery art piece by Nikki Shiva
Quantum Leap

Art is our way of sharing beauty with the world, yet it is also how we express ourselves. When you think of history from the beginning of humanity there has been art.  Cave art has been found around the world and scientist have shown that it was a way to express what the artist saw around them and express their creativity.prehistoric cave art as abstract art prehistoric cave art as abstract art

They have found 350 prehistoric art caves between France and Spain dating as far back as 25000 years ago preceding the end of the last ice age.  There are cave art depicting beings which aren’t familiar to us in our present time which leaves room to question was this their form of abstract art or something far more intriguing?

We say arts where it’s at because we see how we use art to another world into our reality like the wonderful artists create doing street art.

3D artWe have leaped into a time where we can create 180 viewed art pieces which simulate a repetitive pattern.

In our current age art has taken on many forms, from 2D to 3D and we have only touched the surface. Art is where it’s at because art is our direct outlet and unique to each individual person.

We have used art to share our fears, dreams, and aspirations from the beginning of time and we are not done yet.

Now that we have created the 3D printer man can set his reach further into the abyss of possibilities and truly let his imagination run wild.  To be an artist in the 21 century is an exciting gift for we are creating in untapped places and break boundaries set by a time with limited access and consciousness. Today we excel in the art field making “art where it’s at” by utilizing all of the gifts given to man.

“Light and Sound”

The original symbol of life and death
“The Birth of Pheonix” by ShivaSly The original symbol life and death

Once upon a time there was a girl  named “Light” who was the  daughter and keeper of time and space. One day “Light” decided to wander through the dimensions to see what existed in other realms. She found a dimension filled with color and stopped to admire its beauty.
She suddenly realized that it wasn’t just the brilliant colors that had pulled her into the new dimension, but something which she had heard. Curious she found herself hypnotized and in swift pursuit of the strange calling. Louder and louder the calling thundered in her ears urging her on; until she turned a corner and stopped in her tracks.

Hypnotizing by ShivaSly
“Hypnotizing Sound” by ShivaSly An abstract image of “Sound”

There on a hill stood a boy who seemed to glow brightly, and with his back to her he continued singing a song that flooded everything around him with color; his very presence made all of the beings near him dance and laugh with joy.
“Light” felt moved and called out to him asking who he was; upon hearing her voice he turned, smiled and said his name was “Sound.”
“Light” was mesmerized by “Sound’s” beauty and voice, and wanted to learn all that she could about him. She stayed with him in his dimension for some time enchanted by him, and him with her, until she told him that she must leave, but would return one day to him.

Our universe as first light breaking through the darkness
“A Star is Born” by ShivaSly This piece is to represent what our universe looked like when first light broke through the darkness

“Light” continued on with her journey through the many dimensions learning all that she could about the other universes and galaxies. “Light” found a world filled with illusions and adventure, and she became rather content there; until one day when she felt an aching pain within her heart.
“Light” felt a stirring within, as if something was urging her to turn back in time, and as she turned around she began to remember her past.
“Light” decided she must leave immediately. As she moved through space and time (with a feeling  of her essence fading) she searched on and on with an awareness of impending dome which held strong to her chest. “Light” pressed on as fast as she could, unsure of what was happening, and feeling quite drained she decided to stop and rest; upon doing so a vision of “Sound”  formed within her mind.
In the vision, “Sound” told her that he could no longer wait for her and needed to leave his dimension and begin on his travel to the next dimension.

The Glory to the ankh” by ShivaSly The Ankh is the symbol of light and life “The Glory to the Ankh” is on display at the Billings, MT YAM (Yellowstone Art Museum)

“Sound” kissed her head in the vision and as he did an image appeared on “Lights” chest.
As the vision disappeared “Light” awoke and knew that “Sound” had left his world.
“Light” sat in silence accepting that her friend was gone and bent her head feeling sad that she had been gone for so long. Then an image caught her eye and she saw the gift that “Sound” had left behind for her.
“Light” looked up and shed a tear and put her hand to her chest where “Sound” had left a symbol of the bond they had on her heart.
“Light” felt honored, and to commemorate “Sounds” essence, “Light” created another image and placed it alongside the symbol he left on her chest. “Light” vowed to wear both images through infinity.
Light and Sound have remained bond throughout time, known to all within the secret teachings of the universe, as the symbols “Aum and Ankh”; Sound and Lifeforce.

Abstract Expressionism

Abstract Expressionism using Fractals

Abstract Expressionism is a form of symbolism. Expressionistic art relates to our physical world and distorts it for the sake of creativity. Abstract art attempts to be separate from the physical world altogether. But the reality is that people connect with art by relating to it in some way, so there was a need to define a new art movement, hence the creation of abstract expressionism.

Abstract Expressionism by ShivaSly™

Abstract Expressionistic art by ShivaSly is unique in that the artist Nikki Shiva believes that art should create beauty and upliftment. Facilitating happiness, creativity, passion, and beauty is the goal of Shivasly art. Since abstract expressionism is meant to evoke emotion, it follows that the emotions an artist would desire to evoke in others should reflect love. In order to stay connected to that inner harmony, the artist uses fractals derived from mathematics as a foundation for her abstract expressions. The expressionistic aspects of her art appeals to the viewer by drawing relationships to the relative world while the abstract aspect expands the creative mind to connect it with the spirit. The result is a naturally euphoric feeling of well being.
